Reset the Master Password in Opera | How To
After sharing how to reset Master password on Firefox, I got several emails requesting me if I could teach them how to reset a Master Password on Opera. Therefore this post is solely for those who want to learn on how to reset Master Password on Opera.
Those who do not use Opera on their system can look for other great geeky Tips and How To’s. This trick involves TWO CASES each of four steps, but before you begin don’t forget to save your work and close all the applications running on your Opera browser. Then follow the instructions as mentioned below:
CASE I
- Goto Tools → Preferences → Advanced → Security
- Check if Master Password to protect saved passwords is enabled
- Search for opcert6.dat & wand.dat in the Opera profile directory (located in Documents & Settings by default).
- Now rename or delete them. (Deleting wand.dat file is preferred)
CASE II
- Goto Tools → Preferences → Advanced → Security
- Check if Master Password to protect saved passwords is disabled
- Search for opcert6.dat in the Opera profile directory (located in Documents & Settings by default).
- Now rename or delete it.
Please note that deleting wand.dat will remove all stored passwords from Opera Wand. Although this trick is quite simple but in case you prefer not to follow this, then you can give some applications a try [HERE]. Enjoy!
